Not a massive update today, but a few days ago i ordered some Lino flooring with a really great cobblestone effect on it for the base of the Cathedral. Yesterday it arrived.....and it turned out to be quite a lot!
2M x 1M, more than enough for my needs, and them some! Here's a close up of the texture:
I cut out a piece the right size, slapped on a load of wallpaper paste, and stuck it on:
I'll be leaving this to dry overnight and during the day when I'm at work. Once its all secure, then building can begin!

That's gonna look awesome! I'll be following this project closely.
ReplyDeleteNice find! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it come together!
ReplyDelete...That is an awesome idea. I might have to look into that...wish I had considered that before painting my table. Ah well
ReplyDeleteLooks terrific! Might I make a request? Can you set a model or two on it so we can see the scale of the cobblestones? I find it ironic that I almost never remember to put a mini in my shots for scale, but always expect other people to!
ReplyDeleteIt is a really good way to base a board/gaming table. The only problem is fixing it to the base! i thougt that wallpaper paste would do it, but after 24hrs, its only dried out without adhearing to the surface.
ReplyDeleteSo what i've done now is use supergule all the way around the edge of the board, and hope that the tackyness from the paste will keep the centre in place. My research has revield that when lino is layed normally, no adhesive is actually used!
This begs the question: what will i use to fix the first layer of the building to the base??
