Heresy Era Death Guard: Sicarian Battle Tank

Time for a change of pace now. I've painted so much Mechanicum recently i swear i can taste engine oil in my mouth!! So as usually, i reached up to the 'To-Do' shelf and grabbed a model. It was time for some reinforcements for the Death Guard in the form of a Sicarian Battle Tank.

I got two of these assembled some time ago,, so it was high time they were painted.. I started off with this one, and the second is already prepped and ready for painting.

The accelerator Autocannons. A potent weapon great at taking out light armour and pulping infantry.

I armed my Sicarian with Lascannon sponsons for some extra punch. I have magnetised them just in case i don't have the points to spare in a game. I'm really pleased with the heat distortion on these Lascannons.

After i finished the Sicarian i was kindda in the mood for some more death Guard. So i built and primed the final five Legionaries for my fore. This will take the number of standard Legionaries to an impressive 40!

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Triaros Armoured Conveyers

Wow, i was on a proper painting bender when i knocked out these guys!! These two awesome tanks have been in my 'To-Build' box for ages, and quickly skipped the que when my newly completed Myrmidon Secutors needed a ride.

I'm so in love with these models, everything about them is awesome! From the cog's in the engines, to the amazing shock prow at the front, and a tonne of coggy icongography, it looks like a crazy steam punk train! AV14 at the front is a big billy bonus as well!

I used the airbrush to create the shading on the hull of the Triaros. Weathering powder was applied after that.

This is the power core. Plenty of oxidisation effect was applied here. I'm sure whatever freaky power source is locked up inside it will do strange things to the metal.

The Triaros is no push over either. Its armed with a twin linked Mauler Bolt Cannon and two Volkite Sentinels, which can target independently of each other. Plus its ram attack counts as AV15 due to its Shock prow! A pretty bad ass transport if you ask me.

The Triaros is rather huge! Here's a size comparison with a Myrmidon Secutor.

Unlike recent posts i did take the time to snap a few WIP shots this time. This was taken after i finished  the airbrushing on the first Triaros:

Which quickly escalated to prepping the second!

A word to the wise: when painting Machanicum tanks, make sure you paint the pieces separately. Theres so much detail on them, i think you'd struggle to get it all if you painted it assembled.

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Myrmidon Secutors

I'm still in full flow at the moment, so sadly no WIP pics for these guys. Took me a good 4 days to get them done though (that's not 4 continuous days mind!)

So these are basically the assault variant of the Myrmidon Destructor, they even have the same bodies which is a little disappointing. They're sporting a beast of a Power Axe and also 2 assault weapons of your choice. However, if you pick the same weapon twice, it does not count as twin linked, just two individual weapons. This isn't a problem though because the Secutors can fire them both in the same turn! I'll take a slice of that action.

Now in forgeworlds infinite wisdom, they decided to equip each Secutor in the set with different weapons, making it impossible to equip them all with the same load out. I'll say a bit more on that later, but for now here they are.

You'll notice that these two don't have any weapons yet. this is due to the above mentioned problem regarding the availability of desired weapons; for me that's plasma guns and irad cleansers. I've ordered some Legion weapon sets to modify for these two.

This guy is one of two Secutors equipped with plasma guns. The Legion plasma guns are sadly a bit shorter than the Secutor ones, but they'll have to do for now.

These guns are actually Grav Guns with the cylinders cut off. As there isn't any irad cleanser weapons sets available at the moment, i just modified the Grav guns as i don't think I'll use them.

A close up of the modified irad cleansers.

I was really pleased with the glow i managed to achieve on the plasma weapons.

So having all these weapons options wouldn't be any good if i couldn't interchange them! So naturally the shoulder mounts are all magnetised.

These guys are way to slow to get within assault range on their own...what they need is a ride!

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Castellax Automata

Just a quick post today. I reached up to the To-Do shelf and grabbed a couple of Castellax!

The red shadding looks a lot better than the previous castellax, mainly due to the new airbrush.

A family shot! These guys will cause my opponents a lot of problems!

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Questoris Knight Styrix Complete!

Knights are firmly crawling under my skin right now, so i didn't waste any time working on the Styrix. For me this is the most Mechanicum looking knight there is, so i was keen to get one into my force! This  guy will help them out nicely!

The Volkite Chieorovile, a beast of a weapon capable of chewing through infantry. Its also S8 so will still pose a threat to AV14 vehicles.

The weapon is linked to a power cell on the rear of the Knight. I magnetised this power cell to assist with the transport of the Knight.

The Hekaton Siege claw. I love the look of this weapon, it completely fits with the Mechanicum aesthetic. Its main role is to destroy fortifications (which i've yet to come up against) Still looks cool though!

It also has an Irad cleanser built in for more anti-infantry action.

This Knight pattern has a distinctive carapace which i really love.

As well as the cog-trimmed shoulder plating.

Some patterning was added to the shin guards which will have transfers added to it later. At this rate I'm going to have a hell of a lot of transfers to app;y when they're finally released!

The Styrix is sporting a suitably grim Mechanicum face.

The Styrix had a few more armour plates than the Acheron and the Lancer, so there was plenty of red to break up the metallics.

Magnetising the Styrix was easier then the lancer as it's primarily plastic. Magnetising the  power cell was a bit of a pain, as it was on a rounded surface. After some persistence i managed to make it work.

I've really been feeling the painting muse at the moment, so expect a flood of new units soon!

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Archmagos

Another dusty model has been pulled off the 'to-do' shelf recently, this time its an Archmagos. I decided to get this guy done, as i need more Cortex Controllers to command all the automata I've got on the table!

Its definitely a quirky model, full of detail, and very John Blanche-esque! Fun to paint as well. no WIP shots as it didn't take me long to get done.

As with most of the Mechanicus, he won;t be winning any beauty contests any time soon!

Power core - the same ones used on the Myrmidon Destructors (does my core look big in this...?)

Irad Cleanser. This weapon comes as standard on the model, but it would've been nice if it came with a few more options. I am a fan of the Rad Phage rule, so i guess it isn't all that bad!

This little thing sticking out the side of the carapace is a Volkite Serpenta.

I always was a fan of the Mechanicum carapace's, so i was pleased to see this model had one. helps to maintain that strong visual link.

It gets creepier when you look under the carapace. Its full of sensory equipment and a tonne of skulls!
