Death Korps of Krieg Superheavy Tanks; Necron Immortals

I had a freakin' mad day of painting yesterday! I was in the zone, and painted a Baneblade, a Macharius and finished off a unit of Necron immortals! I really wanted to get the super heavies done and ready for an Apoc' game this Sunday (more on that on Friday)

First up, its the Krieg Banblade!

This tanks got the new 141st Regiment colour scheme, weathered in the usual fashion!

MIG weathering powders were applied to the Baneblade Cannon, Demolisher Cannon, and exhaust pipes:

Managed to get some good rust spots on this one:

Vehicle markings. This is the 2nd vehicle of the 23rd Tank Company.

Now my favourite tanks in my collection, the Macharius! Easily one of my favourite Forgeworld models, of which i hope to have a full company of one day! That's 3 tanks not 10 before you get excited!!

Vehicle markings. This vehicles is the 3rd tank of the 11th company.

The tank commanders painted in the same way as the new Krieg colour scheme, as is the driver.

The Heavy Stubber.

Phew! Now these bad boys are ready for the game, which promises to be full of carnage!

Now finally, the last unit of Immortals for the Necrons. Only the Overlord to go and that's all of the infantry done!

Things are Starting to get (Super) Heavy!

I've got a long awaited Apocalypse game tomorrow, and to mark the occasion (and take a break from my Vostroyans) i decided to repaint one of the Krieg Baneblades. It now matches the rest of the Krieg armour!

Vehicle designation. Twenty-Third Company, First Vehicle.

Krieg Tank Commander:

I'll eventually get around to putting the Super Heavy Engine Filter Set from Forgeworld on this beast, as well as on the other vehicles of this company. With the price rises around the corner, I'm looking more at improving the existing forces that i have, and getting all those things that i always meant to do, done!

I'll be taking my camera to the Apocalypse game tomorrow, so I'll get some action shots up on here! Its been AGES since Praetorian walked, so I'm really looking forward to it! Along with the Reaver I'll also be fielding the Elysians and the Death Korps Armoured Regiment (making a modest 5,700pts!) With the Vostroyans and the Krieg Siege Regiment still undergoing repaint, i thought it best to leave them out of this one.

Pics tomorrow!

Death Korps Armoured Fist Squads Complete

Its been a tough week trying to find my hobby mojo, mainly due to these factors:

The UK had an unexpected heatwave over the last week, seriously hampering my efforts to stay indoors in the dark and paint! Alas, the rain has now returned to my small corner of Wales (it rarely stays away for long!), so i got back in the Forge, stuck on Return of the Jedi, and settled down for some serious catching up!!

Here are the fruits of today's labour-the two Chimeras for the Krieg Armoured Regiment. These Chimeras are armed with Autocannons for popping lightly armoured transport vehicles, and because i had the points left to spend in the list!!

Chimera 3

Chimera 4

Here they are with their respective infantry squads:

This completes the Death Korps of Krieg Armoured Regiment! The tournament that i was painting it all up for (Bristol Vanguards 'Spoils of War' - if you haven't been, go! Its great!) has now been pushed back from May to November (Grrrr) Never mind, at least it gives me bags of time to play test them. I'll do an Army Showcase for the next post.

So what now? Well, I'm working on a Special Character for Blog Wars at the begining of June. I'm not giving to much away (the enemy may be watching!) but this guy rolls around in a Taros Assault Vehicle. I've got as far as undercoating and applying the camo scheme, so I'll have a few WIP shots chucked into the next post. THEN, I'll be dusting off the Vostroyans for another Tournie at the end of June, as they all need a bit of touching up. After that? I'll be taking a break for a week or two. I've got a few family engagements coming up, and all funds are being diverted to travel and booze! Then it'll be.....Dark Eldar! The Grey Knights are going to be kept on ice for the moment until i can get a decent list together, so pain, suffering, and pointy ears are firmly back on the hobby menu!

Death Korps Armoured Fist Squads

Its been as very slow week for hobbying, as Ive restarted work after a few weeks off. As a result I'm knackered!! I decided to pick up the paint brush again today and get those Chimeras done.

It didn't take me long, so here they are!

Here they are with their respective infantry squads:

I've got 2 more Chimeras to do and then the Armoured Company is complete and ready to play! I've ordered some more Forgeworld yesterday which included the 2 Autocannon turrets i need for the other Chimeras, which i hope will be here Monday/Tuesday. Then its onto darker projects, of a pointy eared variety!

Armoured Regiment: Vulture Gunship Scenic Bases

Last night i got the Vulture Bases completed. I tried hard make the atmosphere dark and gritty, as is befitting for the Krieg! So i kept the colours dark and bleak, with the exception of the Kriegsmen themselves, as i wanted a little attention drawn to them.

Here are the Vultures on the bases - not a great picture but they don't fit into the light box!!

So with another two units complete, its on to the final four! I picked up two of them yesterday from Games Workshop in Carmarthen, and will probably get them built tonight in front of the TV (provided i dont start playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, which i also bought yesterday!)! Yes, its the humble Chimera!

I'll need another two of them after these guys for the Armoured Fist Squads, as well as two Autocannon turrets from Forgeworld. When i place that order I'll also be getting a Taros as well! Reason being that for Blog Wars in June your list needs to include one Special Character. I wont give away anything else just yet, but my Special Character rolls around in a Taros!

Finally this came the other day:

Its the character model for my Custodians that i mentioned a few posts ago. The cast is excellent, and I'm really looking forward to painting this guy! He'll have to wait until I've done the Armoured Regiment though, as its so close to completion! More busy modeling days ahead i think!

Armoured Regiment: Vulture Gunships Complete

Here are the 2 Vulture Gunships with Twin linked Punisher Cannons that i recently ordered. I've painted them to match this:

This is the Vendetta Gunship that i use for my Vostroyan Army. i figured that the Vostroyans wouldn't have access to their own flyer's, and would rely on Imperial Navy air support instead. The same goes for the Death Korps Armoured Regiment, and I've done the colour schemes to match the Vendetta, as they'll be from the same wing.

Vulture 1

Vulture 2

'Nuff said.

This is what i really wanted to show off - the scenic bases! I gave them my usual enthusiastic treatment and came up with 2 ideas; Trench and Barbed Wire!

This is the barbed wire base. I selected an unwilling Kriegsman from the display cabinet and chopped him up especially for this! I've drilled a few bullet holes in his helmet and chest as well, further evidence of his unfortunate demise! They'll be more obvious once he's painted.

Here is the Trench base (my favorite). Originally i wanted to do both sides of the trench, but I didn't have the space once the flying stand was in place, so I settled for half. The addition of the Kriegsman more than made up for it though! This guy is a Centaur crewman but fits in quite nicely on this base! I cant decide whether he's lost, or just waiting nervously to go over the top! You decide.

I'll get them both painted up tomorrow!
