I picked up 2 squads of these minis at the Horus Heresy Weekender in Feb this year, i was instantly in love with them! And as a bonus, they're dead easy to paint!
I knocked out these four in a few hours and they're more or less done. A word of caution for any other Magos out there thinking of adding these to their army; keep the mechandrites tight to the body! I had to reposition them 3 times because they were just so gangly! Get the pose right first then stick them on. Sound obvious, but it did cause me a lot of headaches during the build!
The finished product will be along soon!

Vostroyan Hydra WIP 2
Wow, its been a very long time since this model saw some love! However, i find myself needing it for the upcoming Bristol Vanguards Vanquish tournament at the end of the month, so its jumped to the front of the que.
The base colours are down, so it'll be washes and weathering next. But first, i had to get the crew organised.
The kit comes with 2 basic Cadian crew members - this just wouldn't do for the Firstborn. Thankfully i had a few spare Vostroyan models lying around which would lend itself nicely to the Hydra. First up it was the gunner.
This Vostroyan was a Plasma Gunner before i chopped the whole thing off! This left a hell of a mess on the front of the mini, so i used green stuff to rebuild the chest plate.
I used the standard cadian arms of the original gunner for the Vostroyan version. this made life a lot easier for me, and the style wasn't to dissimilar to Vostroyan arms. Passable at least!
The second crew member is the Loader. No conversion work was required at all on this guy, i thought he looked good enough as he was! He used to be a heavy bolter loader in his past life.
both crew need repainting - they're still sporting the same paint job they had a few years ago!! These guys are really going to help me personalise the Hydra a bit. But i better get a move on!!

Heresy Era Death Guard - Jazzing Up the Armour!
I've had these Death Guard Legion transfers hanging around for a while now and i thought it was about time i got down to applying them to my vehicles. as you can see, i had a bit of work to do!
The Storm Eagle will carry either Old Morty or Typhon depending on the game, so it needed to bear the Scythes of Moritarion on its hull.
Same goes for the Spartan!
I'm really pleased i got these transfers, i was sitting on the fence for a while. not sure how much they'll be on the tabel top though....:-)

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Avenger Strike Fighter WIP 2
I'm so nearly there with the Avenger. my problem at the moment is that i have to many models on the go at the moment...sadly the Avenger hasn't been recieving the bulk of the attention!
So this is where he's at right now (sorry for the poor pic) Went with a grey base colour because i thought a model this big would look a bit much all in red! The red stripes down the wings and the brass cockpit are my hommage to the Mechanicum.
Colours and washes are down, so its just a bit of light weathering now.
The cogs on the wings wern't planned! I did want something to make the Avenger pop a bit, but when a random trip to HabbyCraft turned up these stensils i was sold!! I knew i had to have them for my mechanicum. I'm sure they'll see a lot more use in the months to come!

Blessings of the Omissiah: Questoris Knight Acheron Complete!
If you have been following my Twitter feed you will have seen some more WIP pics on this model (which has been playing up a bit so if you haven't seen pictures, sorry!) If not, here is the finished product!
This is my second Knight, the first being aligned with the Legio Astorum Titan Legion. This Acheron is firmly aligned with the Mechanicum!
This is an aggressive variant of the Questoris Knight, so i wanted to make sure its pose reflected that. I gave it a forward striding pose with an outstretched Flamestorm Cannon - to make it look like it was burning someones face off!!
The Flamestorm Cannon. Its S7 AP3 Hellstorm template is a bone-a-fie Legionary killer!
The Reaper Chainfist. This guy gives e re-rolls of 1 on the Destroyer Table, perfect for taking on other Super Heavies.
The red was built up fro black with 3 different shades of red. II haven't tried such a stark contrast before, but I'll definitely use it in the future. I may even transfer it to the rest of the Mechanicum force.
The fuel tanks for the Flamestorm cannon. I made these a little oily with some Seraphim Sepia Wash.
The same mild oil effect was applied to the joints and pistons on the legs. Other than that, the Knight is quite clean!!
I went a bit mad with the magnets - i used 14 in total! The shoulders, elbows, waist and fuel hose were magnetised for easier transportation.
This was a great model to build and paint and couldn't put it down (i was regularly shouted at by Mrs GunGrave for spending to much time on it!!) I also have a Knight Lancer in the wings as well that somehow made it onto the Acheron order....Very much looking forward to that build!

Blessings of the Omnissiah: Mechanicum Questoris Knight Acheron WIP 1
I've been saving this model for a few weeks now, building up to painting it! Its been a long time since i built and painted a Knight, but I have to say, this one has been a joy to work on from the start! Its a fantastic kit!
So this Knight Acheron is going to be fighting for my Mechanicum forces. Perhaps not a Household in its own right, but certainly aligned with the Mechanicum. As such, i wanted a strong visual tie with the army, so its red and brass all over!
The red armour plates are being built up from black to red in 3 stages with an airbrush. So far the effect looks great and really gives the model some flavour!
Here's a shot of the armour panels so far. The base colours are done, i just need to wash and highlight. As with the rest of the mechanicum army, there will be minimal battle damage and just some light dust weathering. The shoulder pads and shin guards will have some transfers/heraldry on them, when forge World finally gets around to releasing a Mechanicum transfer sheet! In the meantime I'll be patient.
More on this soon!

Heresy Era Death Guard: Storm Eagle Complete
Finally, Old Morty has a ride into battle! He will of course be accompanied by his DeathShroud.
The missiles were replaced by Lascannons so the gunship can switch to tank hunting duties once Morty has charged out.
Some weathering for the engine exhausts.
I struggled a bit with the cockpit canopy. It was damaged and scratched from its last owner, so a paint job was definitely needed. Went through a few colours; red, blue, but went for black. Pimped out black!
Sadly this model had a missile launcher glued to the nose of the Storm Eagle so i had to run with it. I would've got with the Multi Melta. might try to find one on eBay and switch it out if i can.
Finally the Vengeance Launchers. Not to overwhelming in terms of firepower, but will be useful at thinning out infantry squads.
Hopefully will be able to get some in-game pictures soon!
